Teamwork can be Challenging - 5 Attributes of Successful Teams
When there is no meeting table to sit around and discuss things because you and your team are either at different ends of the country or the world, how do you work as a team?
Having the correct tools and systems in place is imperative but what makes a good team.
An article by Jared Spataro of Microsoft 365 looked at what makes a good team. They partnered with IDEO and researched diverse workplace teams including astronauts, chefs, television producers, and nurses—to understand what high-performing collaborators have in common.
In my opinion they have hit the nail on the head with the 5 attributes needed for successful collaboration in a team.
Team purpose—Keeps teams focused, fulfilled, and aligned on achieving their objectives.
Collective identity—Fosters a sense of belonging and helps team members work together as a unit.
Awareness and inclusion—Enables teams to navigate interpersonal dynamics and value everyone’s perspective.
Trust and vulnerability—Encourages interpersonal risk-taking in teams.
Constructive tension—Serves as a generative force for new ideas, driving better outcomes.
If you don’t feel your team demonstrates these five attributes and would like to discuss how we can help or you would like to see how deploying Microsoft Teams in your organisation can get people working together get in touch.
